Tech Lead (Proprietary)

We are looking for a Technical Lead for leading the technical design, development, and implementation of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems, overseeing our developers & technical team, and also create a technical vision and ensure the success of delivered solutions.

This position will be reporting to the Vice-President of the company.

Who we are

Sednove, which means "new way" in Latin, is a technology company that was founded in 1997 by two computer scientists, Pierre Laplante and Chantal Bilodeau. The multinational group Platinum acquired Sednove in 2021 to increase its control over the development and quality of its software applications used around the world.  Platinum System is a global leader in chiropractic software.  

Sednove develops software web-based applications and websites for clients in various sectors such as financial services, insurance, pharmaceuticals, government, automotive, health, academia, and the fashion industry. We have three main products: Platinum 2.0 our Chiropractic EHR system, Glassbooking intended for the glass repair shops and KontactPay which is our credit card and ACH payment platform. 

The company invests in research, development, and innovation in order to continue to evolve its Extenso product, which is a web development environment that integrates a content management system. Thanks to this platform, which combines no-code / low-code / code and performance, the development of web solutions is very fast and dynamic.

Over the years, Sednove has assembled a team of specialists in all facets of the web who actively contribute to its success.

Responsibilities 

• Solution, deliver and maintain key initiatives in Sednove’s evolving enterprise solutions, as per desired technology architecture and business requirements.
• Develop and communicate technical architecture guidance, design patterns, and standards, and collaborate with IT stakeholders in the development and evaluation of architecture-compliant solutions.
• Direct analysis of technology, industry, and market trends, and determine their potential impact on Sednove’s technology environment.
• Conduct an evaluation of the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
• Take a leadership role on the platform’s technical enhancements, constantly evolving its resilience and monitoring capabilities.
• Responsible for reviewing the technical architecture from security, accessibility, data integrity, and availability points of view.
• Responsible for running all standard and major Cloud releases, review with the Business and assess impact, test, and deliver.
• Responsible for the implementation of SOC compliance in our enterprise.
• Responsible for the development and technological evolution of our software applications in collaboration with the product owner.
• Overseeing and monitoring progress on complex and/or multiple projects relative to scope, schedules, budgets, and quality.
• Troubleshoot and fix software, messaging, and connectivity issues. Drive complex, multi-dimensional issues to completion by coordinating with the necessary various teams.
• Provide technology evaluation and selection advice to management teams.
• Checking conformance to standards and architectural decision and resolving design and architectural conflicts by explaining and justifying design and architectural decisions.
• Maintain a complex technology infrastructure and anticipate capability challenges.
• Minimize the impact of integration on various existing processes.
• Responsible for providing mentorship to new team members and develop their technical skills and capabilities.
• Responsible for technical documentation and keep current all support and workflow processes.
• Work with 3rd party partners to ensure secure and reliable product integrations.
• Create objectives for departments, establish project deadlines, compose predictions, and goal for development team's productivity and allocate resources to help ensure that team members can meet their productivity goals.
• Participate in Research and Development initiatives.

Qualifications

• A relevant University degree/technical certification, and/or relevant experience.
• 7-8 years of proven experience with a technical leadership role
• Excellent knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, SQL and modern web programming languages
• We use an in-house proprietary language taking a low code/no code approach
• Knowledge of Message Platforms
• Knowledge of Security Gateways and API Managers a strong asset.
• Experience of a PCI constrained environment an asset.
• Experience in Cloud technologies in particular AWS an asset.
• Experience with Linux Systems is an asset.
• Knowledge of Serverless technologies in particular AWS Lambdas an asset  
• Expertise with DevOps technologies and processes an asset.
• Excellent API knowledge and implementation abilities.
• Understanding of integration platforms and batch scheduling systems.
• Possess strong analytical, creative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Detail-oriented team player.

• Fluency in English (oral and written).
• Speaking French would be an asset.
